Journalist Kamal Hossain filed a case against five people on February 2
A Sunamganj court has sent two people to jail, in a case filed over torturing journalist Kamal Hossain.
Sunamganj Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Md Khaled Miah passed the order on Monday.
Kamal Hossain is the upazila correspondent of Dainik Shangbad and Dainik Shubho Pratidin and the organizational secretary of Tahirpur Upazila Press Club.
According to the case statement, on February 1, some people intercepted Kamal in Tahirpur upazila, when he was taking photos of illegal sand and stone lifting from the Jadukata River in Sylhet.
They snatched Kamal’s camera, mobile phone, and motorcycle and tortured him after tying him to a tree.
After being rescued, the critically injured journalist was rushed to Tahirpur Upazila Health Complex for medical attention.
Kamal filed a case against five people on February 2.
The key accused in the case are Mahmud Ali Shah and Deen Islam.
