Simeen Hussain Rimi, daughter of Bangladesh’s wartime prime minister Tajuddin Ahmad and lawmaker from Gazipur 4 constituency, has been hospitalized for coronavirus.
She was admitted to United Hospital in the capital on Tuesday afternoon, according to Mostaq Hussain, the MP’s husband.
The lawmaker had been receiving treatment at home since her Covid-19 test result came back positive on Friday, he added.
“She has a cold and a fever. She was rushed to the hospital after her blood oxygen level dropped slightly,” said Mostaq Hussain.
Their two sons Rajib Hussain and Rakib Hussain, as well as their wives, had also been diagnosed with Covid-19 and were receiving medical attention at home, he said.
Meanwhile, Kapasia UNO Ismat Ara, said: “Simeen Hussain Rimi ensured that the people of the upazila received necessary treatment from the very outset of the pandemic. She even hired ambulances on her own initiative and sent the sick to the hospital.”
“We wish her a speedy recovery,” the UNO added.
