Teen hacked to death in Mymensingh

An altercation broke out between two groups over a motorcycle colliding into another leading to a clash were four people were injured by sharp weapons

A teenager was hacked to death and three others were injured during a clash between two groups in Muktagachha upazila of Mymensingh.

The deceased identified as Bijoy Saha, 16, son of Liton Saha, a resident of Ward 3 in the municipal town, was tenth-grader at a local school.

Confirming the matter, Muktagachha police station OC Dulal Akand: “Initially, an altercation broke out between two groups over a motorcycle colliding into another at the Zamindarbari area on Thursday evening. As a sequel to this incident, the same two groups clashed once again later that night at around 11pm.

“Four people including Bijoy were injured by sharp weapons. Bijoy and one Abir were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where Bijoy succumbed to his injuries at around 1am.”

Abir was still being treated at the hospital while the other two injured were being treated at Muktagachha Upazila Health Complex, OC Dulal added.

Police have not yet arrested anyone in the incident. Meanwhile, Bijoy’s body was taken to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
