Garment worker gang-raped in Gazipur

Police arrested one person out of the four accused 

A garment worker has reportedly been gang-raped in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur. 

According to local sources, the 32-year-old garment worker was residing in a rented house owned by one Shahid in Mulaid village in Telihati union of the upazila.

Shahid forced her to leave the house at 3am on Monday, bringing a false allegation against her. 

After the woman left the house, Mizan Fakir, a local resident and known to her, told her he could manage a shelter for her. 

Mizan took her to his rented house at around 3:30am and then reportedly raped her. Later, Sultan, Saddam Hossain, and Rana, other locals of the area, came to the house and reportedly gang-raped the woman one after another till 1pm on Tuesday, said Golam Sarwar, SI of Sreepur police station.

The woman went to Sreepur police station with the help of a relative in the afternoon and filed a case accusing the four of gang-raping her.

The police sent her to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College in a critical condition. 

Meanwhile, police have arrested the accused Sultan and sent him to jail, said SI Golam Sarwar.
