They were arrested with 1,800 pieces of yaba tablets and counterfeit money
Three members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn)) were arrested with 1,800 pieces of yaba tablets and counterfeit money in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar on Thursday night.
The arrestees are APBn 8 Sub-Inspector Sohag and constables Miraz and Md Nazim.
On Thursday, the armed police detained them with drugs from their private rooms at the camp. Later they were handed over to Ukhiya police station.
According to APBn, Sub-Inspector Sohag was pressuring Ekram, leader of Block A at Rohingya Camp 13, for a long time to sell drugs.
At one point, Ekram informed the matter to Kamrul Islam, senior assistant superintendent of police.
Later, a police official found evidence of Sohag’s involvement with drugs. The three APBn members were then arrested with yaba in a drive.
APBn 8 Commander Shihab Kaisar Khan said: "The arrestees were handed over to Ukhiya police after filing a case under the narcotics act. We will also take departmental actions against them," said.
Ukhiya police station Officer in-Charge (OC) Monjur Morshed said the arrestees were sent to the court.
