An altercation ensued between the supporters of two factions over a satire on a supporter of another group

At least five leaders and activists from the Bangladesh Chhatra League were injured in a clash between two factions of Chittagong Medical College (CMC) over a trifle matter on the campus on Tuesday night.

An altercation ensued between the supporters of two Chhatra League factions, one led by AJM Nasir while another by Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, over satire on a supporter of another group in front of the main gate of the campus, Chittagong Metropolitan PoliceDeputy Commissioner Mokhlesur Rahman said.

At one stage, a scuffle took place between them triggering a chase and counter chase that left five people injured.

On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control.

Additional police have been deployed to avoid further trouble.
