The bomb was disposed of by the DMP’s Bomb Disposal Unit
Narayanganj Police have recovered a remote-controlled bomb from an abandoned shopping bag lying in front of a traffic police box on Dhaka-Chittagong HIghway in Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj.
The bomb was defused after two hours of endeavor at around 7:30pm on Monday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Bomb Disposal Unit led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Mahmuduzzaman recovered and defused the bomb by detonating it.
Additional Superintendent of Police Imran Mehedi Siddiqui confirmed the information to Dhaka Tribune.
After the DMP's disposal team was informed, they reached the spot at around 5:30 pm and examined the bomb-like object in the bag and identified it as a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Additional Superintendent of Police Imran Mehedi Siddiqui told Dhaka Tribune that the object was a powerful remote-controlled bomb. The bomb was left there to cause a powerful explosion.
However, why or who planted the bomb there is still unknown. The matter is under investigation, he added.
According to sources and witnesses, Narayanganj district Traffic Police Sergeant Asif Hossain was the one who had spotted the bomb-like object at around 3:30pm on Monday near the traffic police box.
He, along with his fellow cops, immediately evacuated the area and senior officials of the force were informed.
Traffic on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway was halted for about an hour.
