It may be possible to make the baby normal through surgery, says civil surgeon
A baby boy with four arms and four legs was born at a clinic in Dinajpur’s Birganj upazila on Friday morning.
The baby is currently in a stable condition, according to doctors.
Its father Golam Rabbani, a daily-wage earner, said that his whole family was feeling dispirited due to the baby’s birth defect.
He urged the local authorities to stand by his family in their predicament.
Dinajpur Civil Surgeon Abdul Kuddus said: “Such congenital defects are usually caused by genetic factors and autism. Taking contraceptive pills or high doses of antibiotics during pregnancy can lead to these deformities as well.”
It might be possible to make the baby normal through surgery, he said, holding out hope for the family.
