The hospital's Covid unit has logged 183 deaths in 18 days
Twelve more people died at the Covid-19 unit of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) in the 24 hours to 8am on Friday.
Among them, six tested positive for the coronavirus disease, while the rest had only exhibited symptoms, said the RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yeazdani.
Of the deceased, five were from Rajshahi, three from Naogaon, and two each from Chapainawabganj and Natore.
The hospital's Covid unit has logged 183 deaths in the last 18 days. Of them, 102 tested positive for the disease.
In the 24 hours to Friday morning, the Covid unit admitted 41 patients.
Fifty-one people were discharged from the hospital after recovery during this period.
The Covid unit is now treating 349 people against a capacity of 309 patients.
However, the hospital authorities are providing treatment after arranging additional beds, the RMCH director said.

As the coronavirus situation in Rajshahi keeps worsening, the local administration imposed a strict lockdown in the city from 5pm on June 4 till June 24.
As of Friday morning, 13,621 people contracted Covid-19 and 118 others died of the disease in the district alone, with a daily infection rate of 21.94%.
One dies, 75 test positive in Chapainawabganj
One more person died of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours in Chapainawabganj, raising the total number of deaths to 86 in the district, reports BSS.
"The number of Covid-19 cases climbed to 3,396, as 75 more people were detected after 395 samples were tested across the district during the same period, with the positivity rate of 18.98%," sources in the Chapainawabganj Civil Surgeon’s Office confirmed.
The new fatality is reported from Sadar upazila.
Among the fresh cases, 24 people were from Sadar upazila, eight from Shibganj, 20 from Gomastapur, 20 from Nachole, and three from Bholahat upazila.
A total of 1,295 patients — 72 in dedicated Covid-19 hospital and others in home quarantine — are undergoing treatment in the district.
Meanwhile, 2,015 patients have recovered from the disease, the sources added.
