District administration warns of strict measures for breaching the curbs

Amid an upward trend in Covid-19 cases, the authorities have imposed a lockdown in Thakurgaon district that saw 201 new cases and six deaths in three days till Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman said that the lockdown would start from 6am on Thursday.

Before that, he held a meeting on the coronavirus situation in the district in the afternoon.

All public vehicles will be banned over the period, but the goods-carrying transports and those used for emergency services will be allowed to ply.

Kitchen markets and shops selling daily essentials will be open for six hours from 6am, which will not be applicable for other shops and malls. Eateries will be allowed to sell food items only.

All tourist spots, resorts, community and recreation centres will be closed during the lockdown.

Urging all to avoid public gathering, the DC also warned of tougher action for violating the restrictions and health norms.
