The rescue operation will continue on Friday
The authorities are yet to locate a Chinese man working in the Padma Bridge Project after two days.
The 38-year-old foreman, Zhao Jiang Ping, went missing after reportedly falling in the river near Shimulia ferry terminal in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj on Tuesday.
No trace of Zhao was found till 8:30pm on Thursday, said Dewan Abdul Quader, executive engineer of the project.
He said Zhao was working in the night shift on that day. He along with a number of workers were installing a power tower (number 13) of the National Grid as part of the project.
Zhao went to the tower point for work and went missing around 8pm. His colleagues alerted the police after failing to locate him.

On information, Coast Guard divers conducted a search operation in the river at night.
Munshiganj's Sreenagar Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Officer Dewan Azad told Dhaka Tribune: “We have carried out a search operation form dawn till 9pm on Thursday. The operation was carried out from Shimulia Ghat No 3 to the area near Chandpur.”
He said that they would end the search operation if the worker could not be found by Friday.
Wishing to remain anonymous, an employee of the Padma Bridge project, said although this was the first case of disappearance, several Chinese workers working on the construction of the Padma Bridge had died earlier.
In 2014, a Chinese worker fell into the Padma River and died under the influence of alcohol. Another worker died while returning from Mongla.
