Two people were killed and 15 others injured in a violent clash between two rival groups of villagers at Daspukur area under Rajpara police station in Rajshahi city on Wednesday afternoon.
Ten of the injured persons of both groups were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) five of whom were stated to be in critical condition, said Dr Saiful Ferdous, Deputy Director of RMCH.
Quoting locals Majharul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rajpara police station, said the deceased were identified as Shafiqul Islam, 50, son of Sazdar Ali and Joynal Abedin, 45, son of Giash Uddin.
The clash erupted as a sequel to the previous enmity over a piece of disputed land at the area and both the warring groups used lethal weapons during the clash, added Majharul.
The OC also added that additional police forces were deployed at the place of occurrence and RMCH premises to avert any further violence.
