Youth arrested for raping 3-year-old in Chittagong

A college student has been arrested for allegedly raping a three-year-old child in Chittagong city.

Md Rony, 22, was handed over to police by locals in the Mailer Matha Ali Majhirpara area under Bandar police station on Tuesday night.

Quoting locals, Bandar police OC Nizam Uddin said the accused took the girl from a neighbour family to his house in the afternoon.

“After hearing the child’s screams, locals rushed to the scene, rescued her and gave Rony a good thrashing before handing him over to the police,” said the OC.

Later at night, the child's mother filed a case at Bandar police station. The OC also said that the accused would be taken to court on Wednesday.

The child is currently undergoing treatment at the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
