Authorities recorded 14 more Covid-19-related deaths in Chittagong in the 24 hours between Saturday and Sunday mornings, taking the district’s total death toll to 771.
During the same period, 2,082 samples were tested in nine laboratories and 709 of them came back positive, said the district’s Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi.
Of the total deaths, seven were from Chittagong city and the rest from different upazilas of the district.
So far, the district has recorded 65,008 Covid-19 cases.
Of the total infected people, 416 were from Chittagong city and the rest 293 from different upazilas of the district.
The infection rate is very high in Sitakunda upazila, said the Civil Surgeon’s Office.
