Two sons of the company owner have been given bail
A Narayanganj court has sent to jail the chairman of Sajeeb Group and five others rejecting their bail petitions in a case filed over the deadly fire incident at its food processing factory at Rupganj.
Two other accused were given bail by Senior Judicial Magistrate Fahmida Khatun on Wednesday. They are Sajeeb Group directors Tawsib Ibrahim, 33, and Tanjim Ibrahim, 21 – the sons of the owner.
The six who were sent to jail are Sajeeb Group Chairman and Managing Director Md Abul Hashem, 70; his two sons Deputy Managing Director Hasib Bin Hashem, 39; and Director Tarek Ibrahim, 35; Sajeeb Group CEO Shahan Shah Azad, 43; Hashem Foods Deputy General Manager Mamunur Rashid, 53; and Sajeeb Group Sub-Station Manager (Admin) Md Salahuddin, 30.

Police produced them before the court on Thursday on completion of their four-day remand.
They were shown arrested by the police on charges of murder and attempted murder on July 10. Bhulta police outpost In-Charge Inspector Nazimuddin Mozumder started the case.
On Thursday evening, at least 49 workers -- trapped on the third floor with its only exit locked -- died when the massive fire engulfed the factory. Three others succumbed to injuries they sustained after jumping off the six-storey building. Over 50 others were injured in the incident that shook the world.
