Five-member probe body formed to look into the fire incident
A fire broke out at the Covid ICU unit of Tangail General Hospital on Thursday afternoon.
None of the 10 patients taking treatment at the unit was harmed in the incident. The patients were evacuated as soon as the fire started, fire officials said.
Patients were seen receiving oxygen under the open sky following the fire incident.

Three firefighting units managed to bring the blaze under control within 15 to 20 minutes, Rezaul Karim, assistant director of Tangail Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Initially, it was suspected that the blaze originated from a high-flow nasal cannula at the Covid unit.

District Civil Surgeon Abul Fazal Md Sahabuddin claimed that the patients were shifted to another ward to continue treatment. The ICU unit was shut down after the fire. It would be operational soon, he added.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Ataul Gani said that a five-member probe body was formed to investigate the fire incident. They would submit a report within three working days.
