Quader Mirza punches an old man

Noakhali's Basurhat Municipality Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza has again come under the spotlight after a video of him punching an old man went viral on social media.

The incident took place when he was distributing clothes among the poor in front of the municipality building on Friday morning.

During the event, an old man wished to exchange a saree handed to him by Quader Mirza.

Enraged by the sudden incident, the mayor punched the man in the chest. A few minutes later, he threw another saree at the man.

The whole event was streamed live on Facebook.

Quader Mirza previously made headlines following his open rivalry with his elder brother Obaidul Quader, the Awami League general secretary.

He even threatened to commit suicide, claiming that his elder brother had tried to conspire against him.

He resigned as a member of the Companiganj upazila unit of Awami League in March.
