Total 506 patients undergoing treatment at the hospital’s coronavirus unit
Seventeen more deaths were recorded at the Covid-19 unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.
Of those deceased, five had tested positive for Covid-19, 11 had symptoms but had not been tested or did not have their test results and one died after recovering from the infectious disease.
Among them, six were from Rajshahi, four from Natore, two each from Chapainawabganj and Pabna, and one each from, two from Naogaon, Bogra, and Jhenaidah districts.
Five of them were aged above 61, eight were 51 to 60, and the rest were aged between 11 and 40, RMCH Director Shamim Yazdani told Dhaka Tribune.
Yazdani said the hospital had counted a record number of 25 fatalities caused by Covid-19 on June 29 last since the pandemic began.
With the latest development, the overall death tally of Covid-19 patients at RMCH since July 1 now stands at 315 while 405 others died in June.
Sixty people were also admitted to the hospital’s Covid-19 unit in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, added the director.
Total 76 went home after recovering from the infectious disease during the same period.
Some 506 people are undergoing treatment at the hospital’s 454-bed Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the district’s Covid-19 positivity rate has declined. On Saturday, 371 samples were tested, of which 99 were positive.
The infection rate decreased to 26.68% from 31.92% the previous day.
