Drowning deaths are rampant during the monsoon
A tourist went missing while bathing in the Dawki River at Jaflong of Sylhet on Thursday.
Imran Ahmed, 18, of Ghatail in Tangail and a Dakhil exam candidate, went to Jaflong along with 14 of his friends from Mymensingh during the Eid holidays on Thursday morning.
Members of the police, Fire Service and Border Guard Bangladesh have been trying to find Imran since he went missing in zero point area of the river in the afternoon, according to Gowainghat-Companiganj Circle ASP Prabash Singha.

In Thakurgaon, two sisters died from drowning at Kismat village of Haripur upazila. They were identified as Shimu Akter, 8, and Jannatun, 6, daughters of Shah Alam.
According to Gedura Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Hamid, the duo went to play after having lunch on Eid day. Family members and locals later found their bodies floating in the nearby canal.
Haripur police officer-in-Charge Amirul Islam confirmed the deaths, and asked all to take care of the children during the monsoon.
