18 more Covid patients die in Barisal Division

The division has so far recorded 29,752 cases since March last year

Barishal Division logged 18 new Covid-19-related deaths in the past 24 hours between Sunday and Monday mornings, taking the division’s death toll to 428, according to health officials.

Of them, 10 died at the isolation and Covid-19 wards of Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) in Barisal, one in Patuakhali and seven in Barguna, confirmed Dr Basudev Kumar Das, the divisional health director.

During the same period, officials said, 841 new Covid-19 patients were also recorded in the division, which took the total number of cases to 29,752 since the pandemic started in Bangladesh in March last year.

So far, of the total number of patients in the division, 17,964 have recovered and gone home.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases in the division,382 were identified in the Barisal district alone. So far, this district has recorded 12,684 cases.

According to SBMCH authorities, 47 more patients were admitted to the hospital’s isolation and Covid-19 wards between Sunday and Monday mornings.

Some 283 Covid-19 patients are also currently undergoing treatment at the Covid-19 ward.

Hospital sources also confirmed that with the 10 latest deaths, 734 people showing Covid-19 symptoms died at the isolation ward of SBMCH and 283 confirmed patients died at the Covid-19 ward.

The Covid-19 test results of 71 out of the 734 deceased are yet to come back.
