Jhalakathi’s senior judicial magistrate dies of coronavirus

Jhalakathi's Senior Judicial Magistrate Mosammat Sania Aktar has died of Covid-19.

The 28-year-old breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) in Barisal at around 10:30am on Wednesday.

Sania, who was also seven months pregnant, tested positive for the deadly virus on July 12.

SBMCH Assistant Director (Administration) Dr SM Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

The deceased’s husband, AHM Imranur Rahman, who is working as a senior judicial magistrate in the same district, has also tested Covid positive.

He, while speaking to Bangla Tribune, said: "My father-in-law's house is in Narayanganj. Sania will be buried at her family graveyard there following her Namaz-e-Janaza.”

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain expressed profound shock at her death and prayed for the salvation and eternal peace of Sania’s departed soul.

Law Minister Anisul Huq and Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar also expressed shock at the senior judicial magistrate’s demise.

They all ought forgiveness of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to her bereaved family in separate condolence messages.

Sania was born on August 1, 1992, in Hoglakanda village under Araihazar upazila in Narayanganj. 

She joined the judicial services on March 1, 2018, through the 10th Bangladesh Judicial Service Examination.
