An elderly woman died on Thursday while waiting in line for Covid-19 test at Sarail Upazila Health Complex in Brahmanbaria.
The deceased was identified as Hosne Hur, 71, from Islamabad village in the district’s Sarail upazila.
Noman Miah, family planning officer at the upazila health complex, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
“Hosne was sick for the last four-five days. She took treatment from a local consultant who told her to take the Covid-19 test as she had symptoms. Even then, she did not come to take the test,” Noman said.

“Later, when her physical condition deteriorated, she came to the health complex on Thursday, where she succumbed to her illness right before giving her sample for the test.”
It is not clear whether she was indeed infected with Covid-19 as the hospital could not collect her sample. However, she had exhibited symptoms for the disease, he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, a 43-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman died while waiting to provide swab samples for Covid-19 tests at their respective local hospitals in Brahmanbaria and Chandpur.
According to their families, both of the deceased were suffering from fever and cold and collapsed while waiting in queue for the test.
