Police have filed a charge sheet within 22 hours after a man was charged with killing his own father in Tangail Sadar upazila.
The charge sheet was handed to the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman around 3pm on Sunday, confirmed Tangail Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Mir Mosharraf Hossain
On Saturday morning, Lutfur Rahman, 30, an auto-rickshaw driver, hacked his father Abdul Kuddus, 65, over a family dispute. Other members of the family then rushed Kuddus to Tangail General Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Later, Lutfur was arrested as soon as his brother Nazrul Islam filed a case against him, according to police.
OC Mir Mosharraf said Lutfur already confessed his crimes to the court and has been sent to jail.
Tangail Superintendent of Police Sanjit Kumar Roy said this was the shortest time needed to file a chargesheet in the district and the quality of the investigation was also maintained.
