Barisal division sees 18 Covid deaths, 740 new cases in a day

Infection rate in the southern division stands at 43.15%

Barisal Division logged 18 coronavirus-related deaths in the 24 hours to Tuesday morning.

Of them, seven were confirmed Covid-19 patients while the rest had symptoms, according to Divisional Health Services Director Basudeb Kumar Das.

The latest figure takes the total toll in the southern division to 494. 

During the same time, a total of 740 new infections were reported from the six districts, taking the caseload to 35, 367. The daily infection rate stands at 43.15%

On the other hand, a total of 19,711 people have recovered since the pandemic began.

Das said of the seven latest deceased, three died in Barisal, and two each in Patuakhali and Barguna.

He said that 11 of the deceased who had symptoms died in the isolation ward and three in the coronavirus ward of the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal city.

The hospital has so far, 326 Covid deaths and 805 deaths from symptoms.
