Bogra UP chairman accused of charging money for Covid-19 vaccine

Bogra Deputy Commissioner Ziaul Haque says action will be taken after investigation

Update : 10 Aug 2021, 08:39 PM

A local leader in Bogra’s Noongola union has been accused of charging locals with Tk20 for a dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, which is supposed to be free.

An angry local resident wrote to Deputy Commissioner Ziaul Haque on Monday against Noongola Union Chairman Alim Uddin.

Alim refuted the allegation, saying he had heard that those conducting the registrations were charging the amount as “service charge”.

On receiving the letter, the deputy commissioner’s office notified Bogura Mohammad Ali Hospital Resident Medical Officer Dr Shafiq Amin Kajal and union health staffer Golam Rabbani Ranga, who himself verified the claims.

The DC Haque told journalists that steps would be taken in this regard after proper investigation.
