Daily test positivity rate now stands at 28.8%
At least 10 more people died at the Covid-19 unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the last 24 hours to 8am Wednesday, taking the death toll at the hospital to 170.
Confirming the matter, RMCH Director Brig Gen Dr Shamim Yazdani said among the newly deceased, three had tested positive for Covid-19, four exhibited the symptoms, and three had post-Covid complications.
Two of the deceased were residents of Rajshahi district, three from Pabna, two each from Natore and Naogaon, and one from Chapainawabganj, he said.
Five of the deceased were females. Three of them were aged above 61 years, two between 51 and 60, three between 41 and 50, and two between 21 and 40.

Some 29 more patients were admitted to the designated Covid wards of the hospital afresh between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. With the latest tally, the number of patients currently undergoing treatment at the Covid unit of the RMCH is 363.
Another 20 patients are admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
Meanwhile, 37 patients were released after making recovery.
On Tuesday, 316 samples were tested at two laboratories in Rajshahi, of which 91 came out positive, at the rate of 28.8%.
The latest single-day test-positivity rate is the highest in a week; the daily infection rate was 23.1% on Monday, 27.25% on Sunday, 34.63% on August 7, 30.21% on August 6, 23.82% on August 5, and 23.89% on August 4.
