389 new cases reported at the same time
The Barisal division logged 13 more Covid-related deaths and 389 new cases of infection in the past 24 hours to 8am Wednesday.
Of the deceased, six tested positive for Covid-19 while the remaining seven showed symptoms only, according to local health officials.
With the latest tallies, the Covid death toll in the division now stands at 569, and the caseload at 39,742.
Dr Basudeb Kumar Das, divisional director of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in Barisal, disclosed the latest numbers on Wednesday.
Of the 389 new cases, 152 were reported in Barisal district, 44 in Patuakhali, 133 in Bhola, 20 in Pirojpur, 16 in Barguna, and 24 were recorded in Jhalakathi district.
In the 24 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, 878 more people were reported to have made full recovery from Covid -19, raising the total number of fully recovered cases in Barisal to 22,434.
The divisional DGHS director further said 10 of the deceased died at Sher-E-Bangla Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH). Of them, three had tested positive for the disease, while the others had symptoms.
Of the six confirmed Covid patients who died, four were from Bhola and one each from Barisal and Patuakhali.
According to SBMCH sources, 12 new patients in the hospital’s Covid isolation ward and four more in Covid ward. With the latest addition, 210 Covid patients are currently undergoing treatment at the SBMCH. Of them, 64 are confirmed cases.
At the rt-PCR lab of SBMCH, 258 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, where 29.45% samples tested positive for Covid-19.
