557 new cases reported in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning, with an infection rate of 29.06%
The Sylhet division logged its highest ever single-day death tally from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours - 22 patients died between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
Of them, 11 were reported in the Sylhet district - eight of which were at MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital - two from Habiganj, and one from Moulvibazar, according to figures released by the health officials in Sylhet.
With the new numbers, the division's death Covid toll now stands at 844.
Of them, 677 people were from Sylhet district, of whom 57 died in Osmani medical college hospital, 59 from Sunamganj, 42 from Habiganj, and 66 from Moulvibazar.
A total of 1,917 samples were tested in 24 hours to 8am Wednesday, of which 557 came back positive, with the test positivity-rate of 29.06%.
With the latest tally, the division’s Covid caseload has risen to 47,11.
Eighty-two new patients were hospitalized in Sylhet during the same period of time, raising the total number of hospitalized Covid patients to 469.
At the same time, 715 more Covid-19 patients were released from hospital after recovery.
