Medical officer claims nurse refrained from administering the second dose
An elderly woman received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine at the same time at Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College Gymnasium Vaccination Centre in Gopalganj on Thursday.
The woman was identified as Mumtaj Begum, 65, residing in Bedgram area of the town.
Mumtaj said: “I went to the vaccination room after submitting the card. Later, a nurse came and vaccinated me.
“Since my head started spinning, I sat on the same bench. After a few minutes, another nurse came and told me to move my hand quickly.”
Mumtaj said that the second nurse gave her another dose even after she had told her about being vaccinated once before. “She didn’t listen to me and went ahead.”
Dhaka Tribune could not contact the two nurses on duty in this regard.

Gopalganj District Civil Surgeon Sujat Ahmed said: “I have heard about the incident. In this regard, SM Sakibur Rahman, a medical officer and coordinator of the vaccination program, can tell what actually happened.”
Contacted, SM Sakibur Rahman said they were in contact with the woman to observe her condition.
He claimed that the second nurse had not administered the second dose after learning that she was already given the vaccine. She just pushed the needle.
The medical officer also claimed that the incident had happened since the woman was sitting on the bench meant for the vaccine aspirants.
