At least three others were taken to the hospital
Four people have been killed in three separate road accidents in Gazipur between Thursday and Friday.
In Kaliganj upazila, a Narsingdi-bound bus hit a cement-laden stationary truck, causing it to topple over the side of the road and leaving the bus driver’s assistant killed..
The incident was reported from the Kaliganj-Ghorashal-Narsingdi bypass road around 12:30am on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Ali, 32, a resident of Kapasia upazila. Three passengers of the bus were taken to the state-run hospital in the upazila town, said Kaliganj police station Officer-in Charge (OC) Anisur Rahman.
In Muchak Telirchala area of Kaliakair upazila, two people were killed on the spot after a covered van hit a rickshaw-van around 4:30pm on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as the rickshaw-van puller Hannan, 17, and his associate Roni, 13, both hailed from Bhola district.
Salna-Konabari Highway police station OC Mir Golam Faruq said they have recovered the bodies and sent them to Gazipur’s Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.
In Bairpara area of the same upazila, a garment worker was killed after a bus ran over him on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Humayun Ahmed, 30, a resident of Mymensingh’s Fulpur upazila.
On information, police recovered the body and seized the bus.
