He is currently under observation, say the local health authorities

It was the second shot he had been waiting for but instead of relief what he felt was panic after the needle was pulled out.

Sub-Inspector Bidyut Das, who is posted at the naval police unit in Habiganj, was administered a Sinopharm shot in the second dose after receiving an AstraZeneca (Covishield) jab in the first.

The mix-up was reported at the Ajmiriganj Upazila Health Complex on Saturday, reports Bangla Tribune.

Das said he realized of getting injected with the wrong vaccine when he checked his vaccination documents after being inoculated.

"I told the vaccinator, one Josna Biswas, that I received a Covishield shot in the first dose,” he said.

The police officer said he immediately reported to the doctor of the health complex.

Resident Medical Officer Monir Hossain said that he has been instructed by the civil surgeon’s office to keep Das under observation.

“We are ready to send Bidyut [Das] to the state-run hospital in Habiganj town in case of any side effects,” he said.
