This was the eighth such raid and recovery since 2014

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) again recovered arms and ammunition from the Satchari National Park in Habiganj during a raid on Friday.

BGB 55th battalion Commander Lt Col SNM Samiunnabi Chowdhury told reporters: “Based on information from sources, we had put the park under strict surveillance from the beginning of this month.

“We entered the park on Friday evening and recovered 13 guns and 19 bullets, which were wrapped in polythene and buried underground.”

The weapons recovered will soon be handed over to the authorities concerned, he said, adding that no arrests were made during the raid.

This was the eighth time that an arms recovery raid was conducted since 2014 at the park, a popular tourist site.

Law enforcement agencies since 2014 have recovered several military-grade weapons, including rocket launchers and artillery shells, and other arms and ammunition from the national park during multiple raids.
