Teenage boy, girl commit suicide in Jhenaidah

A teenage boy and his alleged girlfriend committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling in Jhenaidah.

The incident occurred at Chapatala village in Moheshpur upazila of the district on Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Abu Syed, 18, of Chapatala village and Sohana, 16, of  Kanchanpur village in the upazila. 

Sohana came to the village a few days ago to visit her brother-in-law Al Amin’s house.

According to locals, Sohana and Syed were in an affair. They could have committed suicide together as their family members didn't allow their relationship.

Police recovered their bodies on Saturday morning from Amin’s house.

Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Moheshpur police station, confirmed the incident. 

The bodies were sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital. Two unnatural death cases were filed with Moheshpur police station.
