Five other army men were injured in the incident
Two army personnel have been killed following a head-on collision between an army pickup truck and a cement truck, in Kamarkhand upazila of Sirajganj district.
Five others were injured in the incident.
The deceased were identified as Dipankar, 25, and Corporal Mehedi Hasan, 35. The injured are Sergeant Firoz, 36, Soldier Mainul, 21 and Lance Corporal Imran, 30. The names of the other two are yet to be ascertained.
Bangabandhu Bridge West police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mosaddek Hossain said that the accident took place in the border market area of Kamarkhand on the Dhaka-North Bengal Highway at around 7pm on Monday.
The army pickup fell into a ditch after colliding with a cement truck in the border market area on the way back from Hatikumrul. Seven soldiers were injured during the incident.
The injured were rescued and taken to Sirajganj Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital, where doctors declared two of them dead.
Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital emergency department doctor Faisal Ahmed said seven army personnel were brought to the hospital in critical condition. Among them, two had passed away and three were undergoing treatment.
Two others left after treatment.
