He was admitted to hospital with pneumonia and Covid symptoms on Thursday night
An officer of Denmark-based NGO Danish Refugee Council (DRC) died in Cox’s Bazar with Covid-19 symptoms on Friday.
Richard Gambu, 48, of Kenya was admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital on Thursday night. He died around 8am while undergoing treatment at the ICU.

The hospital authorities collected samples and have yet to confirm whether he died from Covid.
“The patient was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and Covid symptoms. He also had breathing problems. But his condition worsened early today [Friday],” said Resident Medical officer Dr Shahin Abdur Rahman Chowdhury.

According to the office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), as many as 2,409 Rohingyas contracted the deadly virus and 28 died since the first case emerged in May last year.
