Police acted on a tip-off and raided the Gobindapur area
Bangladesh Chhatra League leader of the Comilla Metropolitan ward, has been arrested for smuggling 40 bottles of Phensedyl in a school bag.
Upon receiving a tip-off on Sunday, the police conducted a raid in the Gobindapur area of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Chandina district, Comilla and arrested Rizwan Chowdhury, 25, with the drugs in his bag.
Chandina Police Station OC Shamsuddin Mohammad Elias confirmed the arrest and stated that Rizwan had meant to smuggle the drugs to Dhaka.
He was sent to jail after producing him in court on Monday on drug trafficking charges.

Although Rizwan is the son of Wahid Chowdhury of Kazipara area under the Kafrul police station in Dhaka, he grew up living in his uncle’s home in ward 11 of Comilla city.
He has been involved in Chhatra League politics, and became the secretary of Comilla metropolitan ward 11.
When asked about Rizwan's arrest, Comilla Chhatra League Convenor Abdul Aziz Sihanuk said, Chhatra League has no place for someone involved in drugs. Swift organizational action will be taken against him, in this regard, he added.
