Bangladesh Coast Guard has recovered 245,000 pieces of yaba tablets during a drive in Habirchhara Marine Drive area under Teknaf Police Station.
Lt Commander Amirul Haque, media officer at Bangladesh Coast Guard headquarters, confirmed the matter on Friday, said a press release.
Acting on a tip-off, a coast guard patrol team, under the leadership of Station Commander Teknaf Lt. Commander M Naeem-ul-Haq, conducted a special drive in that area, he said.
The seized yaba tablets were later handed over to Teknaf police for necessary legal action, he added.
Regular operations are being carried out in the areas under the supervision of Bangladesh Coast Guard to maintain law and order, ensure public safety as well as curb piracy, robbery and drug control, the officer further said.
