5 members of a car theft gang held from Narayanganj

They used to rob cars at the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested five members of a car theft gang from Fatullah in Narayanganj.

After gleaning information from previously arrested gang members, a RAB team managed to track down its other members during an operation on Friday.

The arrestees are: Md Azim Uddin, Md Rofiq Ullah, Md Selim, Md Kamrul Hossain and Omar Faruk, all of whom are coordinators of the gang.

During the operation, the RAB team seized three pick-up vans, one CNG-run auto-rickshaw, a gun, one bullet, three knives, an axe, six mobile phones and Tk12,000 in cash, from the gang.

RAB Legal and Media wing Assistant Director ANM Imran Khan said during interrogation it was known that the car theft gang consisted of 15-20 members, who regularly robbed cars between the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, Narayanganj, Savar and Gazipur.
