The injured have been admitted to the Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital in critical condition
At least 12 people, including two forest officials, have sustained serious injuries in an attack carried out by illegal occupants of forest land in Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar.
The incident took place at around 10am on Saturday at the VIP hill area of Jowarianala Range in Ramu upazila.
Among the injured are, Sultan Mahmud, Jowarianala range officer of Cox’s Bazar North Forest Division, Abdul Jabbar, PM Khali range officer, Basudeb Banik, a forest ranger and Asit Pal, a gardener.
The injured have been admitted to the Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital in critical condition.
They were attacked while returning after demolishing illegal structures on the forest department’s land, said Touhidul Islam, divisional forest officer of Cox's Bazar North Forest Department.
“When they were coming back after the operation, the grabbers swooped on the forest team, leaving the 12 people injured,” he added.
The forest department is preparing to file a case with the Ramu police station over this incident.
