Several injury marks were found on the victim’s body

Narayanganj police on Tuesday recovered the body of a battery-run autorickshaw driver from an isolated marshland nearby Fatullah's Baktabali, three days after he went missing from Munshiganj's Tongibari upazila.

The deceased was identified as Nayan Das, 18, son of Sree Jaya Das of Abdullahpur village in the upazila.

Fatullah model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rakibuzzaman said as the victim’s body showed signs of injuries it was assumed that miscreants hijacked his auto-rickshaw and killed him before leaving his body behind.

The body was later sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for an autopsy, he added.

According to the victim's family, Nayan left home with his auto-rickshaw on Sunday evening. When he did not return home at night, his father went to Tongibari police station on Monday afternoon to file a GD. However, the police told him to wait until Monday night.

Meanwhile, Tongibari Police OC Mahabub Alam said they were informed of the body's recovery on Tuesday morning but no one from the victim’s family came to the police station to report the missing person.
