Sailor dies as two ships collide on Karnaphuli River

A sailor was killed in a collision between two ships on the Karnaphuli River in Chittagong on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rashid, 51, son of late Mofiz Uddin, hailed from Double Mooring Chhotapul Brickfield area. He was the head sailor of the ship FB Magferat.

Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost Sub-Inspector Nurul Alam Ashek confirmed the matter. Abdur Rashid fell from the top of the ship and was critically injured when the two ships collided.

He was rushed to the hospital around 4:15pm, but the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
