A man in Rajbari found himself listed as dead in the Election Commission server while registering for the Covid-19 vaccine.

Anowar Hossain, 43, an MPO-listed teacher at a madrasa in Baliakandi upazila faced such a situation when he went to register with his NID at a local shop on Wednesday morning.

Anower said that he received his NID in 2008 and has been using it at various offices when needed.

However, he had never thought to verify his ID online.

He is suspecting that employees of the commission mixed him up with his elder brother who died in 2012, but is still shown alive in the server.

They probably listed my name in the list of dead voters instead of my brother, he said.

Responding to queries on the matter, Upazila Election Commission Officer Md Nizamuddin said that the mistake can be corrected if Anower applies for it.

A similar incident was reported three days ago in Chattogram where an elderly man could not register for the vaccine as he was shown dead in the Election Commission list.

The man, in his seventies, has been deprived of the old-age allowance due to the same reason.
