They had run away from Bhashan Char to go to the Rohingya camp in Teknaf
Police detained 19 Rohingyas, who had fled from Bhashan Char, from the Faujdarhat area in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong on Wednesday.
Eight of them are men, four are women and seven are children.
Mohammad Zahirul Islam, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Faujdarhat police outpost, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
According to locals, when the Rohingyas tried to reach the coast through Abdullaghata in Salimpur union by boat on Wednesday afternoon, locals held them and contacted UP Chairman Salauddin Aziz immediately.

At the time, three or four of them managed to escape by boat.
Salauddin Aziz said a broker had taken the Rohingyas from Bhashan Char to North Salimpur by boat. “Later, we apprehended 19 Rohingyas and handed them over to the police.”
During interrogation, the detainees said that they had escaped from Bhashan Char through a broker to go to the Rohingya camp in Teknaf.
“We are sending them back to Bhashan Char,” said SI Zahirul Islam of Faujdarhat police outpost.
