2 killed by lightning strike in Kurigram

Two people were killed and another injured by lightning strike at Chilmari in Kurigram on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Jahangir Alam, 30, son of Tamsher Ali of Karaibarishal area of Ashtamir Char union and Sonamiah, age unknown, of the same area.

Abu Taleb Sarkar, chairman of Ashtamir Char Union, confirmed their death.

 He said the trio was cleaning the jute fibre when they were struck by the lightning bolt at around 3pm.

Locals rushed them to Chilmari Hospital where doctor Al Amin Hossain declared Sonamia and Jahangir dead.

The injured Samad was sent to Kurigram Sadar Hospital, said local sources.
