Six people have been killed and several were injured in separate train accidents in Dhaka, Brahmanbaria, Khulna, and Jhenaidah districts.

In Dhaka, two people were killed in two separate train accidents at Cantonment rail crossing and Azampur rail crossing on Sunday.

Around 8:30am, Sylhet-bound Parabat Express starting from Dhaka hit and killed a man on the spot at Cantonment rail crossing, police said. The Criminal Investigation Department was informed since the body could not be identified immediately.

Meanwhile, a woman named Samia, 38, was hit by a train at Azampur rail crossing in Uttara around 9am. Onlookers rescued her but she died on the way to Tongi Hospital.

She used to work as a house help in Azampur area and lived in Badda. It is assumed that she was on her way to work when the accident occurred.

The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue.

In Brahmanbaria, two siblings were killed and their father was injured when a train hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Talshohor level crossing in Ashuganj upazila early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Rubel, 33, and Pavel, 23 – two sons of Sadek Mia of the upazila.

Confirming the matter, Ashuganj police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Dharmajit Sinha said that the Dhaka-bound mail train from Chittagong hit the auto-rickshaw carrying four people while it was passing the level crossing, leaving Pavel dead on the spot and two others injured.

The deceased, identified as Anwar Hossain, was a speech and hearing-impaired man from Maheshwarpasha Banikpara area of the city.

The Khulna-bound train from Jessore hit him on the level crossing around 1pm while he was heading towards a shop, leaving him dead on the spot, said SI Asad of Khanjahan Ali police station.

In Jhenaidah, a man was crushed to death by a train near the Baluhar area of Kotchandpur upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sirajul Islam, 55. He was a resident of Rajarpur village.

Kotchandpur Railway Station Stationmaster Golam Mostafa said: “Sirajul was crushed under the Dhaka-bound Sundarbans Express. Railway police recovered his body and took it to Jessore.

“We are suspecting that Sirajul committed suicide.”
