12 others injured in the crashes
At least seven people, including an infant, were killed in three separate road accidents in the country on Saturday.
The accidents took place in Comilla, Chapainawabganj and Sylhet districts.
In Manoharganj Upazila of Comilla, at least three people were killed and four others were injured in a collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
The accident took place on the Comilla-Noakhali Regional Highway at around 10:30am.
The deceased were identified as driver of the CNG Md Shahadat Hossain, 30, and passengers Md Rafi, 23, and Md Yasin, 30.
One of the four injured was taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. The three others, a woman and two children, were taken to Natherpetua Bhuiyan Medical Centre.
Police said the bus driver lost control of the vehicle after colliding with a parked truck and then hit the CNG. The bus has been seized, but the driver and helper are both on the run.
In Golapganj Upazila of Sylhet, two of a family were killed and four others were injured when a private car crashed into a pick-up van.
The accident took place at Ranaping Fazilpur on the Sylhet-Zakiganj Highway at around 11:30am, reports BSS.
The deceased were identified as Shafiq Uddin, 70, and his one-year-old grandson Aryan.
Shafiq Uddin's wife, daughter, granddaughter, and the driver of the private car sustained injuries and were sent to MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital, said Golapganj Model police station Officer-in-Charge Harunur Rashid Chowdhury.
In Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj, two people were killed and two others were injured when a three-wheeler was hit by a truck.
The truck hit the three-wheeler while it was waiting for passengers by the side of the road in Kansat Bazar in the upazila, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Harun, 26, and Renuara Begum ,55.
The injured were taken to the upazila health complex for treatment.
