Road crash leaves 3 dead in Comilla

The bus driver and his helper are on the run

At least three people were killed and four others injured in a collision between a bus and a CNG-run autorickshaw at Manoharganj Upazila in Comilla on Saturday.

The accident took place at 10:30am on the Comilla-Noakhali Regional Highway.

The deceased have been identified as Md Shahadat Hossain, 30, the driver of the CNG, Md Rafi, 23, and Md Yasin, 30, the passengers. All of them hail from Noakhali district.

Among the four injured, two children and a woman were taken to Natherpetua Bhuiyan Medical for treatment.

The other injured was sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital in a critical state.

Assistant Superintendent of Laksam Circle Mohitul Islam said the Dhaka bound bus--‘Himachal Paribahan’--collided with a truck parked on the side of the road. Following the collision, the bus lost control and hit the CNG coming from the opposite direction.

Since the accident, the bus driver and his helper have been on the run, he added.

Police have recovered the bus and the CNG-autorickshaw from the spot.
