The duo went to the eco-park outside their work hours without notifying anyone, police say
Two police officials in Bogra have been withdrawn and attached to the district police lines for allegedly harassing and extorting money from people visiting an eco-park in Bogra’s Gokul area.
The duo are Bogra Sadar police station ASI Abdullah Al Mustafa and Constable Mahidur Rahman.
Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police (media) Faisal Mahmud confirmed the matter on Sunday afternoon.
On Friday, ASI Mustafa and Constable Mahidur went to Momo Inn Eco Park after 9pm and started harassing park visitors on the pretext of interrogation.
At around 9:30pm, the duo stopped three people, who went there on a motorcycle, and tried to extort Tk2,000 from them. An altercation took place at that time.

At one point, several visitors surrounded the ASI and the constable. Later, the park authorities rescued the two cops from the spot and sent them to the police station.
They were immediately withdrawn on the instructions of the district superintendent of police.
Dismissing the extortion allegations, ASI Mustafa claimed that he and Constable Mahidur had only interrogated the three people on suspicion.
Additional SP Faisal said the two policemen had gone to the eco-park outside their work hours without notifying anyone.
“The allegations are being investigated,” he said, adding that the two would face legal action if the accusations made against them were found to be true.
