Kushtia man dragged out of home, shot dead

Unidentified armed criminals shot a man dead at his home in Sadar upazila of Kushtia in the early hours of Friday.

The deceased identified as Raju Ahammed, 37, was employed at a private firm.

The incident took place at around 1:30am in Darbeshpur village under the upazila.  

According to the victim’s family, on the night of the incident, when everyone was fast asleep some men surrounded their house. 

At one point, they dragged Raju out of his bed before shooting him at point-blank range.

He was immediately rushed to Kushtia General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy, said police.

Kushtia model police station OC Sabbirul Islam said: “Raju’s family claims he was killed by his rivals over a previous enmity.”

Police will launch an investigation into the incident once a case is filed with the station, he added.
