Schoolgirl dies of Covid symptoms in Lakshmipur

She was suffering from fever, cough and shortness of breath for four days

A fifth grader died of Covid-19 symptoms in Lakshmipur on Friday.

The deceased, Jannatul Fiza, was a student of Sayestangar Islamia Dakhil Madrasa in Raipur upazila.

Her family members said she regularly went to the madrasa after it reopened on September 12 and was suffering from fever, cough and cold four days before her health condition deteriorated on Friday.

She was being rushed to Sadar Hospital in Lakshmipur but died on the way, confirmed Kamala Sheesh Roy, a doctor at the hospital’s emergency department.

“As she had symptoms, we will run a test on her sample to determine whether she died from Covid-19 or not,'' said Civil Surgeon Abdul Ghaffar.

Earlier, an eighth-grader died of Covid-19 in Manikganj. She died on the way to Kurmitola Hospital in Dhaka on the night of September 15.

The deceased, Subarna Islam Rodela, from Beutha area of the district attended the local SK Government Girls High School.
